Cabo da Roca

Cabo da Roca is a place defined entirely by its position: it is the sharp, exposed point marking the westernmost edge of mainland Europe. It is a location of elemental force, where the continent's landmass comes to a decisive, sudden end at the Atlantic Ocean.

The atmosphere here is one of vast, rugged isolation, offering an immense, unobstructed view of the sea. High above the water, the cliffs climb approximately 140 meters, crowned by a solitary, steadfast lighthouse that has stood watch over passing vessels for ages. A simple stone marker stands sentimental at the point, bearing the famous phrase of poet Luís Vaz de Camões, nothing this place as "where the land finishes and the sea begins".
