El Garrobo
El Garrobo is a small, quiet municipality located in the northern area of the Seville province, deeply settled within the protected landscapes of the Sierra Norte de Sevilla Natural Park. Its identity is that of a quintessential mountain town, built amidst the rolling hills and thick Mediterranean forests.
The town's existences is closely tied to its natural surroundings, where the landscape is dominated by dehesas (oak forests used for gazing) and dense woodland. This environment supports traditional activities like forestry, livestock raising, and hunting, defining the local pace of life.
The architecture is simple and unadorned, reflecting the materials and constructions techniques appropriate for a mountain climate. The local church , the Iglesia de la Purísima Concepción, is the main public building.
El Garrobo serves as a peaceful stop along the ancient pilgrimage route, the Vía de la Plata, which runs directly through the area. It offers an experience of remote, unhurried rural life, ideal for those seeking hiking, nature walks, and a retreat into the quiet, protected ecology of the northern Sierra.
