Ferragudo
Ferragudo is a traditional fishing town situated on the eastern bank of the Arade River estuary, directly across from the city of Portimão. Its character is defined by a steep cascade of whitewashed homes and cobbled lanes that descend towards a working harbor, where small boat still land the daily catch. At the mouth of the river stands the imposing Castelo de São João do Arade, a fortress that once guarded the waterway. This village maintains an atmosphere rooted in the rhythms of the sea, serving as a tranquil counterpoint to the larger resort area across the water.
