Gerena
Gerena is a Spanish town on a small granite hillock northwest of Seville. This location is historically defined by the extraction of granite, a trade that supported the local population from Roman times well into the 20th-century, and whose legacy is preserved in the abandoned quarries and the Museo del Cantero. Architectural remnants spanning centuries include Roman foundations, the remains of a Paleochristian Basilica, and the Mudejar Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de la Enccarnación. The area functions today as an agricultural center and residential space connected to the wider Seville region, with its long history physically recorded in its stone structures.
