Grândola
Grândola is an Alentejo town with profound significance in Portugal's recent history, having been immortalized in the song "Grândola, Vila Morena", the radio signal that launched the 1974 Carnation Revolution. The municipality covers an expansive inland expanse marked by cork oak forests and pine woods, which transitions westward into long stretches of undeveloped Atlantic coastline. The town itself serves as the main administrative point for this large section, with its traditional economy centered of forestry and agriculture. Today, the coastal part of the region is gaining recognition for its low-density, high-quality resort development.
