Loures

Loures is a major Portuguese municipality situated immediately north of the Lisbon capital in the Tejo Valley. Historically, this region served as the main supplier of market garden produce for the city, a farming tradition that has since yielded to extensive industrial and residential development. Today, Loures functions as a heavily populated suburban section of the metropolitan region, acting as a crucial logistical and commercial point. The landscape retains historical markers, including remnants of Loures Castle and the striking Penedo do Lexim, a geological formation of volcanic origin.
