Morón de la Frontera
Morón de la Frontera is a historic Spanish city situated in the Campiña Sevillana, near the Sierra Sur mountain range. This location's history is marked by its strategic position as a former Taifa kingdom and a border point during the Renconquista.
The town is visually dominated by the ruins of its Moorish castle on a hill, offering extensive views of the flat countryside. Its economy has two principal foundations: traditional agriculture, specializing in the cultivation of olives and cereals, and the renowned lime industry (cal de Morón). The city is also nationally recognized for its deep flamenco tradition, hosting the annual Gazpacho Andaluz festival. Furthermore, it is internationally known for hosting the large Morón Air Base.
Key historical structures include the impressive Church of San Miguel, often called the little cathedral of the Sierra Sur, and the Church of Santa María de la Asunción.
