Olhos de Água
Olhos de Água is a Portuguese coastal town and resort destination situated in the Albufeira municipality in the Central Algarve. This location is named for it unique geological feature: freshwater springs (eyes of water) that through the sand on the beach section during low tide. Historically a small fishing community, the town now relies heavily on the tourism sector. The waterfront area maintains a residual fishing tradition, with traditional vessels still pulled up onto the sand, adding a distinct historical layer to the modern tourism purpose of the destination.
