Portimão
Portimão is a major Portuguese city and municipality in the Central Algarve, situated on the Arade River estuary. Historically, the location thrived as a significant fishing port and industrial center, particularly known for its extensive sardine canning industry. Today, the city's economic foundation has transitioned, and it now functions as a primary commercial and service center for the western Algarve region, as well as a popular tourism destination. Its famous waterfront area includes Praia da Rocha, a large beach section backed by striking yellow cliffs. The city's maritime past is documented in the Portimão Museum, housed in a restored cannery structure.
