Quarteira

Quarteira is a Portuguese city and significant tourism destination located on the Central Algarve coastline, within the Loulé municipality. It is historically one of the first resort sections developed in the region. Originally a fishing town, the location now functions as a major center for beach recreation, particularly popular with domestic and Spanish visitors. The city is defined by its long, straight, sandy beach and the extensive parallel promenade (Calçadão), which is backed by dense hotel and residential structures. It maintains a traditional fish and produce market, preserving a crucial element of its fishing past, despite its modern tourism purpose.
