Sanlúcar de Barrameda
Sanlúcar de Barrameda is a Spanish city and municipality situated on the northern bank of the Guadalquivir River estuary, in Cádiz province. The location holds immense historical significance as the point from which the first circumnavigation of the Earth, led by Magellan and complete by Elcano, began and ended. Today, the city is globally renowned as the sole origin for Manzanilla Sherry, a unique dry wine aged in the local cellars (bodegas). the surrounding area is defined by its long, sandy beaches and its position directly across the river from the protected Doñana National Park. The city's economy rests on the wine sector, fishing trade, and tourism, including the famous annual beach horse races.
