Santiago do Cacém

Santiago do Cacém is a Portuguese city and municipality located in the Alentejo Litoral region, situated on a hilltop slightly inland from the Atlantic coastline. The location is historically defined by its imposing medieval castle and main church, which stand within the ancient defensive walls, marking its strategic position. The city functions as a regional administrative and service center for the surrounding agricultural area. While retaining its strong historical flavor, the municipality's economy is also closely related to the nearby large Sines industrial and port complex, which provides significant local employment  and commercial activity.
