Tunes is a small Portuguese town situated inland in the Central Algarve, within the Silves municipality. The location occupies a section of low plain characterized by surrounding agricultural fields. The town's primary function and historical importance are entirely connected to its railway station. This facility operated as the most crucial inland rail junction in the Algarve, serving as the key point where the main Lisbon-Faro line connects with the western route to Lagos. Tunes serves as a transportation and service center for both the railway network and the surrounding rural area.
