Zahara de los Atunes
Zahara de los Atunes is a Spanish coastal town located on the Costa de la Luz, in the Cádiz province. The location is defined by its long wide, stretch of unspoiled sandy beach facing the Atlantic Ocean. The town's name explicitly refers to its foundational and historical purpose as the crucial center for the ancient almadraba tuna fishing method, a tradition practiced in this coastal area for centuries. The town is built around the ruins of a historical tuna processing factory (Chanca) and a defensive castle structure. Today, Zahara de los Atunes functions almost entirely as a summer beach tourism destination, renowned for its seafood cuisine and its deep connection to the tuna trade.
